RECORDS DESTROYED – BUT NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!
Sad news that recruitment to Scottish regiments has been down. Who would ever have thought that with all that tv advertising amidst allegations of torture and abuse that people wouldn’t be keen to, well, get involved!
While we’re on the subject of ‘Our Boys’ it’s been revealed that the army major who gave an illegal order to punish Iraqi looters destroyed his records two weeks before three of his men were to be court-martialled for allegedly abusing the prisoners, it was claimed yesterday.
But Major Dan Taylor denied that he destroyed the notebooks because they "proved he was not telling the truth".
The evidence was heard at the trial of three British soldiers - Corporal Daniel Kenyon, Lance-Corporal Mark Cooley and Lance-Corporal Darren Larkin - who are accused of abusing and assaulting prisoners at Camp Bread Basket, in Basra, where Major Taylor was the commanding officer.
