Rogue State

As floating cadavers snag on upturned roots, America descends further into barbarism. Rather than question this ‘anti-americanism’ we should be talking about a global boycott similar to that against the apartheid regime. Katrina's exposure of naked self-interest in terms of global warming would be enough, but America is departing from accepted forms of legal democracy.

Examples of this barbarism are many but here‘s two.

The verdict against Jose Padilla confers absolute authority on the President to incarcerate American citizens without charge and without any legal means for the accused to challenge the terms of his detention. It is the end of "inalienable rights", the end of The Bill of Rights, and the end of any meaningful notion of personal liberty. More here...
