Heart Buchanan's new BBC lunch delivery service (wot I built) has made the papers:-
Home comforts
HOW are the precious folk at the BBC coping with their move from the refined west end to Govan, you may or may not wonder.
Well, while their neighbours in Govan go down to an ice-cream van for their smokes, Nurofen and single nougats, the BBC types now have a lunchtime van delivery from their favourite deli on Byres Road which they were all missing. They can order their couscous, asparagus and chervil pasta salad, and goats' cheese and sunblushed tomato filo parcels online before 11am and it is delivered two hours later.
And no strident chimes of Greensleeves from the van - the staff are sent an e-mail when it arrives.
Yes, it's tough out there in Govan, but the plucky BBC types are surviving.

UPDATE: This Facebook application lets you check the menu each day from the comfort of, er, Facebook.

I'm delighted to welcome two new websites to the hodgers.com family:
- Creative Ironwork
- bespoke wrought iron design and forging
- Michael Kay Jewellery
- hand-crafted jewellery
That brings the total number of domains hosted here to 20. Wow!

Dreamhost is now the official host of the hodgers.com empire. Their Crazy Domain Insane! package proved too tempting when compared with the Gold package of my previous host, Wyenet. Here are some comparisons that helped make my decision:-
| Unix Gold Plan (Wyenet) | Crazy Domain Insane! (Dreamhost) |
Cost per year | US$360 | US$95.40 |
Disk storage | 5Gb | 192.5Gb |
Monthly bandwidth | 25Gb | 1.925Tb |
FTP/Telnet accounts | 10 | 75 |
Domains hosted | 3 | Unlimited |
Server software | Apache 1.3.26 | Apache 2.0.54 |
Above all, however, Wyenet's webmail was 'upgraded' not too long ago to something entirely unintuitive that never sat well with any of hodgers.com's users. However, they hosted the website for two years and were always really helpful whenever I had a problem. If the decision to move were to have been motivated by customer service alone, leaving would never have crossed my mind.
There will be teething problems with the new host, so please contact me if you see anything amiss or can't access anything you're supposed to.

There are more details on its updated website. And here's a map of the museum's new location.

Well, it's not quite that! However, the good name of hodgers.com has made it onto a nice big banner for East Grinstead Museum. Hooray!

hodgers.com has been a bit poorly of late due to a crippling bout of Spam, but it's all better now. Thank you to all the wellwishers who took the time to call.

Hodgers radio has been around even longer than hodgers.com, believe it or not. It's just received a bit of a redesign - which still needs a bit more work to be honest - and a proper public launch (finally!) of the Podcast.

Regular hodgers.com visitors may have noticed a few odd things around here in the last week or so. The charming people at Wyenet (my host) decided, in their wisdom, to upgrade the server on which this website sits without warning me first. Pretty much everything broke almost immediately and, despite the many benefits that this upgrade will eventually bring, I was more than a little annoyed.
However, with the help of the Wynet support staff most things seem to be sorted now - including email - and we can all now start to reap the rewards for our patience. If things still appear broken, drop me a line and I'll get on the case.

The Hodgkinson family tree's search function now pops up a console that, for the first time, marries the GEDCOM data with the Java Applet. It seems to work fine in Safari and IE, but Firefox struggles with the Javascript at the moment.
