La Liga 2004-05

Hola, fellow Blanquiazuls,
Some of you may know that Geoff and I have renewed our season tickets for the upcoming season. We have changed positions and have moved to the other side of the Fondo goal end, which should make it easier for us to get in and out the ground compared to our previous seats. Whether we get a better view of the action remains to be seen. I'll keep you posted.
Thought you might like a quick update on what is happening at La Roseleda - comings and goings, well, mostly goings. First of all we have a new manager, Gregorios Manzana (manzana is Spanish for apple, strange name) who was formerly the main man at Atletico Madrid. Changing managers seems to be thing here, 18 of the 20 clubs in La Liga have new managers since the end of last season. Gone are Insua (back to Argentina), Salva (back to Valencia), Diego Alonso (back to Uruguay), Rojas (end of contract - not renewed). Potentially going at goalie Calatuyud (Liverpool want him) and Miguel Angel (who has been linked to a number of clubs, including several in the English Premiership) but may go arch rivals Sevilla if they up their offer. No sign of many new faces arriving except the squad has been increased by the inclusion of six players from Malaga B, which competes in the Second Division here as a team in its own right. Last year Malaga B entered these dizzy heights for the first time ever and managed a credible midtable finish. Of course the rules here dictate that a "B" team cannot be in the same league than the "A" team, but none the less they are competing at a very high standard. One of the new recruits is a Swiss international forward, Giego, so we will see him next year.
As part of their preseason training, Malaga's first team are off to Switzerland to play two Swiss teams and one from the Bundesleague in a wee meaningless tournament.
Anyway, please find attached the fixture list for next season [page1; page 2], so that you can look forward as much as me to each game. You will see that the first home game is in September, so we will all have to wait some time yet.
If there is any breaking news before then, hasta luego!
Your Malaga CF Correspondent.
