BBC Radio Scotland redesign

Today the BBC Radio Scotland website - my pet project for the last couple of months - relaunched. Wil was responsible for the new look; Ryan programmed the labour-saving back-end & some of the front end; Carol, Alan and Jo prepared all the content; and I built the rest of the front-end and kinda ran the show.

The new site offers some significant improvements over the old one (live since the summer of 2003!):-

  • Schedule listings for individual days, the coming week and the previous week - all with Listen Again links where available;
  • Permanent pages for the station's presenters;
  • Now & Next listings;
  • An RSS Feed off all the daily updates from Carol and the team;
  • No more popups for playlists and email - only the Radio Player launches separately - and a Programme A-Z page to replace what was a dropdown menu;
  • Predictable, hackable URIs across the whole site and some splendidly semantic markup;
